It is now some 18 months since Llandysul & Pont Tyweli Ymlaen acquired the community bus from Ceredigion County Council, and as one of the Ymlaen projects Dolen Teifi Community Transport was set up.
During this time some 30 groups have used the bus for various activities, and have enabled many local residents to be able to access places who otherwise would not have been able to leave their local surroundings.
A number of volunteers have taken up the MiDAS training, and because of the ongoing demand by volunteers for training, Dolen Teifi applied for and won, funding from “Awards for All” thus enabling Dolen Teifi to put two volunteers forward to become MiDAS Driver Assessors. David Morris and Roy Talbot have both qualified and will be able to train other volunteers to become MiDAS drivers.
Congratulations is also due to Oliver Jones, another of the Dolen Teifi volunteer drivers who competed in the Wales MiDAS Driver of the year in Llandudno in October. He was runner up and will now go on to represent Wales at the National Competition in Manchester in February 2010! Well done!
