28/11/2019
Back in November 2019, Llandysul a Phont-Tyweli Cyf recently launched an exciting NEW Electric Vehicle (EV) community car scheme in Brechfa Village Hall.
The Lord-Lieutenant of Dyfed, Sarah Edwards officially launched the new EV 200, Nissan MPV a vehicle that has been specially converted to carry 4 passengers and a wheelchair. It is the only fully accessible EV, MPV that is operated by a community transport organisation in Wales, if not the only in the UK. It was acquired through the Brechfa Forest Wind Farm Community Fund. https://anturteifi.org.uk/brechfa-forest-wind-farm-community-fund/
The EV is available for the communities of Brechfa, which includes Pencader, Llanfihangel-ar-arth, parts of Llanpumsaint, and Llanllwni and their surrounding areas. It can used for car share, bespoke journeys to medical appointments at local doctor’s surgery’s, Hospital appointments and social journeys.
Full training is provided for the drivers to the nationally recognised MiDAS MPV standard. The scheme is being developed by Dolen Teifi, a non-for-profit Community Transport organisation that’s part of Llandysul a Phont-Tyweli Ymlaen. The EV is a new and innovative approach that addresses, lack of transport to key services and fuel poverty and will help reduce social isolation by placing vehicles deep within communities to address lack of transport.
If you are interested in hiring the car, it will cost 45p per mile. We do have volunteer drivers if needed as they have been trained up to MiDAS standard. For booking the car for hire or further information please contact us either by phone 01559 362403 or by email info@dolenteifi.org.uk
