Wheelchair Passport Scheme
20/08/2020
Not all wheelchairs are suitable for transport. Some wheelchairs have not been designed or tested for use as a seat in a vehicle.
We can offer a free service to assess your wheelchair.
Check that your wheelchair is suitable for you to be transported in.
Check that you are within safe weight limits for ramps, lifts, tie-downs etc.
Provide clear guidance to show how you and your wheelchair should be safely secured within a vehicle.
Next Step
- The assessment takes about 30 minutes.
- We will arrange to visit you at home or in another suitable place. (Staff have been DBS checked).
- We will weigh and measure your wheelchair, with you in it, and take photographs to show how the wheelchair should be secured in a vehicle.
- We will then make up a personal wheelchair passport which can be attached to your wheelchair and shown to drivers when you travel so they know how to transport you safely
