The Value of Volunteering in the Community

Volunteers are at the heart of Dolen Teifi Community Transport. Without their time, kindness and local knowledge, many people in rural communities would struggle to access appointments, shopping, social activities and everyday services.

Volunteer Drivers

Have you ever thought about volunteering in your community, but were unsure how you could help?

We work with community partners across Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire, with vehicles based in local towns and villages through our network of Community Hubs. This means there are volunteering opportunities in a range of communities across the area.

If you have a few hours to spare each month, enjoy driving and would like to meet new people, becoming a volunteer driver could be a rewarding way to support your community.

We are always looking for volunteer drivers across Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire to help people get to hospital and dentist appointments, shopping trips, community activities or simply out and about. Many community transport services throughout Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire rely on volunteers, and every journey makes a real difference to someone’s day.

Who can volunteer?

We welcome volunteers who:

• We welcome volunteers over the age of 25.
• A clean driving licence desirable but not essential.
• Full support and specialist training are provided, including training that is recognised across the community transport sector.
• Enjoy driving and like meeting people.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

Not interested in driving? There are plenty of other ways to get involved.

• Administrative tasks
• Cleaning and preparing vehicles
• Marshalling at community events
• Delivering or displaying posters
• Supporting community activities and projects
